Cheeseburger - Cheeseburger (2005)

If you’re a purist, you might have trouble getting over the obvious influence of The Stooges and a blatant reference to Nirvana during Derby Days. If you can get over that, or if you’re the person that loves music for what it is, not what’s before it, these guys create a great sound that I like to call drunk rock.

Tiger stands out as the best song on the disk. The opening lines, “Well I’m fucked up mess/Baby I’m a full-time wreck/I maxed out my credit card/Yeah, I live in a car” tells you all you need to know about how the party starts. Other highlights include both Easy Street and Hot Streets. A surprising closer, Bobby’s Theme, puts it all in perspective, should we rock or finally spend some sober time with those we care about? This is the song about the guy who decided to skip the party for something more.

The selling point for this album is between the songs. Lead singer Joe Bradley assumes the role of radio jock Zach Richards, spinning the album the entire way through. He talks about hair cuts, wonders how Cheeseburger got into the playlist, and Rowdy Pete’s, the best bar in town.

No word on a new CD but the guys are still doing shows in New York. Here's the video for Tiger.
